The campsite is between saguaros and pear cactus and has 130 evenly spaced sites complete with water and electricity. Although it is pretty near civilization, the campgrounds are far from any roadways and mostly quiet.
There are very scenic views around the area from the plains towards the west and the mountain ranges along the east side, which covers the entirety of Tucson.
The campsite is also close to one of the entrances of Saguaro National Park, the Old Tucson Movie Studios, and the Sonora Desert Museum. Hiking and mountain biking trails are available as well in the area.
